This is a real deleted scene?! I would have loved this episode so much more with it — to me the ep was kind of forgettable except for Rory’s death. If I’d had this scene I would have mourned Rory more, because this conversation is kind of a missing link in Rory’s character: why he follows Amy and why he’s still traveling with the Doctor. Whoever chose Florence + The Machine’s “Cosmic Love” as the trailer music for Series 5 knew what they were doing. I only found this song a few days ago, and I’ve fallen in love with it, but not just because it’s a beautiful song. I think it accurately reflects the bond (romantic or not) that Amy and the Doctor share, particularly as it was in Series 5.
BTW, I do want Amy and Rory to be happy together, more than anything. I just find Amy and Eleven’s relationship more fascinating in general.

Brief thoughts on Amy and the sixth series.
I actually deleted like three unnecessary paragraphs, but I’ll stick this under a read more anyway.
I agree — I’m definitely glad we got to keep everyone on board for series 6. And I wrote like 3 paragraphs today on what I think is going on with the interplay of Amy’s relationships with the Doctor and Rory. Honestly, as long as we keep getting Amy and the Doctor’s adorable friendship moments and ridiculous hugs, I’ll be all right with whatever else goes on, because they do love each other deeply. The dynamic is different now, but that original bond between the Doctor and his Pond was the foundation that the whole Team TARDIS was built on back at the beginning of series 5 — so I think you’re right to say that while it’s changing, it isn’t going anywhere.
And I end up trusting Moffat too most of the time, much to my surprise. :)
